Night Garden at Anderton Nature Park

Artists will bring the nocturnal delights of Anderton Nature Park to life by creating a ‘Night Garden’ using installations of light and sound. Primary school children will be working with local artist Wendy Meadley, during September, to make lanterns. Community groups from around Anderton will also have an opportunity to discover the Nature Park and work with artists, Julia Peat and Megan Broadmeadow, to create sound and light artworks that reflect the park's history and people's relationship with it. Night Garden is a Cheshire Year of Garden's 08 project managed by Vale Royal Borough Council and Action Weaver Valley, with support from Cheshire County Council, Mersey Basin Campaign, British Waterways and FOAM (Friends of Anderton and Marbury).Source: Mersey Basin Campaign.

Brunner Mond buys new plant from company in parent group

Brunner Mond, the soda ash producer owned by India’s Tata Group, has invested £400,000 in new equipment its Northwich West plant in Cheshire. The new absorber vessel is used to make ammoniated brine for the company’s manufacturing process, replaced one which had parts dating back to 1908 and which was taken out of use two years ago.The replacement vessel was made by another Tata company in India and managing director John Kerrigan said: “Our experience while seeking to upgrade this vital piece of plant is a perfect example of how being part of the Tata Group is helping us develop our business.“Even taking into consideration the shipping and set up costs, sourcing the absorber from India means we are getting much more for our money, enabling us to make an investment in our business that we would not otherwise have been able to do.”Project manager John Ferrari said the new vessel did not cost much more than a single overhaul of the old plant. He added: “We obtained quotes from companies in the UK, as well as further afield in China. Tata Chemicals’ price was very competitive, so we placed the order with them in January 2007.”Read more at Crain's Manchester Business.
